We recently welcomed Layah, an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) from the Mental Health Support Team for the Leicester City Central locality to speak at our school assembly.
Layah shared her powerful personal experience of her challenges with Emotionally Based School Non- Attendance (EBSNA) as a young person, before explaining her current role as an EMHP and how her team supports students in school. She spoke about the range of help available, including support with panic management, exam stress, sleep difficulties and more, as well as signposting to other services where needed.
This visit forms part of our whole-school commitment to promoting positive mental health and student wellbeing. It complements the wide range of support already available in school, including our two School Counsellors, Trained Mental Health First Aiders, and pastoral care available from our Year Achievement Coordinators and the Vice Principal.
We are proud to continue building a supportive environment where every student feels heard, supported and able to thrive.
